At higher concentrations (45-50 mg) the effect of the reduced retention value occurs much earlier,
because the proportion of molecules remaining in the membrane is much larger. Therefore, the aim must be to

Nitrate is the main source of nitrogen for most plants. Nitrogen is essential for plant growth and is therefore used as fertilizer in agriculture.

Nitrate itself is not particularly dangerous for humans. However, it is converted in the intestines into nitrite and nitrosamines, which are many times more toxic.

The binding of nitrite to hemoglobin (red blood cells) instead of oxygen leads to a lack of oxygen in the body.
Even a quantity of 5 mg/l of nitrate in drinking water is carcinogenic.

Nitrite is particularly toxic for infants, even in the smallest doses, due to the still reduced production of stomach acid.
Therefore, any contact with nitrate should be avoided, especially in small children.
