The size of the activated carbon particles contained in Aquaphor filters is many times smaller than those found in traditional water filters. This allows for increased effective surface area and adsorption speed.
The combination of activated carbon, AQUALEN, and ion exchange resin reduces carbonate hardness as well as heavy metal ions that may be present in the water due to the house's plumbing, such as iron, cadmium, copper, and lead. Taste-impairing substances such as chlorine are also removed, and organic matter is significantly reduced.
The water becomes ideal for making tea, coffee, and cold drinks. The combination of activated carbon, AQUALEN, and ion exchange resin also reduces the disadvantage of a shift in the pH value toward the acidic range!
AQUALEN , a patented proprietary development from Aquaphor®, expands as soon as it comes into contact with water. Visually, you can imagine this as a network of roots that runs through the activated carbon filter and is interwoven with the granules. Just as the roots of a plant form a unit with the surrounding soil and protect it from erosion, the interaction of the Aqualen fiber with the activated carbon prevents the formation of channel effects and enables complete filtration. In practice, this is demonstrated by the fact that Aquaphor filters can still achieve excellent filtration values at the end of their intended service life, better than filters with loose granules.
In contrast to activated carbon, AQUALEN is also extremely absorbent. Both substances, activated carbon and Aqualen, have completely different, valuable individual qualities for water purification, but only when used together do the extraordinary, synergistic effects that distinguish the Aquaphor filter become apparent.
