The refill granules consist of an organic ion exchange resin (Pure Resin 200 FDH) and silver-impregnated activated carbon. The silver-impregnated activated carbon reduces odor- and taste-impairing substances in the water, such as heavy metals and chlorine, and protects against bacteria. The ion exchange resin removes limescale from the water.
This way you can always enjoy your coffee without any unpleasant surprises.
With the 5 liters of refill granules (ion exchange resin), you can refill the water filter cartridge up to 76 times.

The filter granules consist of a mix of different components: high-quality ion exchange resin for partial demineralization (Pure Resin 200 FDH) and silver-impregnated activated carbon. It is generally used for open tanks and jug filters (e.g., coffee machines, water filters, etc.). The filter granules remove the carbonate hardness from the water, which is harmful to appliances. The result is ideal water for preparing coffee and tea. In addition, the granules filter out unwanted odors, tastes, and dirt particles from the water. The highest water quality and flawless appliance function are maintained by changing the granules regularly. The filter granules should be changed at least every four weeks.
How it works
Hardness-causing minerals such as calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and magnesium carbonate (MgCO3) are removed during partial demineralization/decarbonization. In water softening systems, hardness-causing cations are exchanged for sodium ions. In contrast, during partial demineralization, these cations are exchanged for hydrogen (H+) ions, not sodium ions. This process converts the carbonate hardness into carbonic acid (H+ and HCO3 = H2CO3), and the salt content of the water is reduced by approximately 18 mg/l per degree of carbonate hardness. The excess carbonic acid is driven off by aerating the water or bound by blending it with tap water.
When water flows over activated carbon, it is treated with oxygen, creating millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms. This increases the surface area and enhances adhesion. In this way, unwanted substances such as chlorine particles, odors and tastes, organic contaminants, smaller particles, and suspended solids are attracted and trapped. Valuable trace elements and minerals, however, are retained.
The granules can be used with the following devices, among others: Saeco®, Jura®, Krups®, DeLonghi®, AEG®, Tefal®, Brita®, Leifheit®, Laurastar®, etc.
