The refill granules consist of an organic ion exchange resin (Pure Resin 200 FDH) and silver-coated activated carbon. The silver-coated activated carbon reduces odor- and taste-impairing substances in the water, such as heavy metals and chlorine, and protects against bacteria. The ion exchange resin removes limescale from the water.

This way you can always enjoy your coffee without any hassle.

With the 1 L refill granulate (ion exchange resin) you can refill the water filter cartridge up to 15 times.

The filter granules consist of a mix of various components: high-quality ion exchange resin for partial demineralization (Pure Resin 200 FDH) and silver-coated activated carbon. It is generally used for open tank and pitcher filters (e.g., coffee machines, table water filters, etc.). The filter granules remove the carbonate hardness, which is harmful to machines, from the water. The result is ideal water for making coffee and tea. The granules also filter out unwanted odors and flavors, as well as dirt particles. Timely granule changes maintain the highest water quality and flawless device function. The filter granules should be changed at least every four weeks.

How it works

Hardness-forming substances such as calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and magnesium carbonate (MgCO3) are removed during partial demineralization/decarbonization. In water softening systems, hardness-forming cations are exchanged for sodium ions. In contrast, in partial demineralization, these cations are exchanged for hydrogen (H+) ions rather than sodium ions. Carbonate hardness thus produces carbonic acid (H+ and HCO3 = H2CO3), and the salt content of the water is reduced by approximately 18 mg/l for each degree of carbonate hardness. The excess carbonic acid is expelled by aerating the water or bound by blending it with tap water.

As water flows over the activated carbon, it is treated with oxygen, creating millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms. This increases the surface area and enhances surface adhesion. This attracts and simultaneously traps undesirable substances such as chlorine particles, odor and flavor compounds, organic contaminants, smaller particles, and suspended matter. Valuable trace elements and minerals, however, remain intact.

The granules can be used for the following appliances, among others: Saeco®, Jura®, Krups®, DeLonghi®, AEG®, Tefal®, Brita®, Leifheit®, Laurastar®, etc.
